How to Choose the Right Lawyer

After an accident, it is important to find experience legal representation to ensure you are properly compensated. Choosing the right lawyer can be confusing. How will you know who is the best fit for your needs and your case? How do you know they will get you the best results possible? You are right to answer these questions, because all attorneys are not created equal.

Here are some tips to help you select an attorney who is right for you.

Free Consultation:

Qualification:

Obviously it is important to ensure your attorney is a member of the Georgia Bar Association in good standing. Length of experience matters, if they are going be the sole practitioner on your case. Ask your potential attorney to share with you some of his/her more recent cases and their outcomes. They should be able to reference several cases without hesitation.

Personal and Professional Service:

Although attorneys rely on their legal staff to carry out daily tasks relating to a client's case, the attorney you select should be the attorney who handles your case for all official legal matters. It is also important to hire an attorney who returns phone calls promptly, and is able to answer your questions thoroughly and easily. This requirement applies to their legal assistants as well. During the first few weeks of representation, you should have a good feel for how responsive your attorney's office is. This would be the best time to consider whether you want to continue allowing them to represent you. We often have new clients come in who are nervous about being in an attorney’s office. They are typically getting over injuries, or dealing with the loss of someone they love. They really just can’t believe they’ve been put in the position of having to hire an attorney, and some are even embarrassed. We understand. Some say, “Mr. Stevens, we are religious people and really haven’t ever believed in suing people.” Others will say “We’ve really never considered ourselves to be litigious people, because life is just the luck of the draw.” Remember, if the insurance companies were paying people fairly for their losses, then there would be no need for Injury Attorneys. Period. So the people I have used as an example above, and hundreds of others have come to our firm for the same reason: to get fair compensation for the injuries they have sustained, without having to fight a system full of red tape, dishonesty and frustrations.

When you call The Law Offices of Casey W. Stevens, we will ask you for some details about the accident in which you were involved. These questions include:

Boating and Maritime Accidents

According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, there were eighty-six watercraft related injuries and eleven fatalities on Georgia Lakes in 2008. Many of these injuries and fatalities were alcohol-related. Others were due to other types of negligence, which include not following boating laws, or having an unsafe vessel. The result of these errors includes boats and personal watercraft (PWC) colliding with each other, with someone in the water, or an occupant falling overboard.

Georgia has just over 192 miles of coastline on the Atlantic Ocean. These waters are also the home to boating and other maritime accidents. Cruise ships, barges, commercial fishing vessels and the like make their way up and down the Georgia coastline every day. Employees, guests and other occupants of these vessels expect the vessels are in good operating condition, and are being handled within the safety guidelines set forth for each of them. This includes operating the vessel in safe weather conditions.

When a vessel is not in proper operating condition, it may be caused by the negligence of the manufacturer, the owner, or in many cases the marina that rents the boat to another party. Welcome to my new blog page. For those of you who haven't read my profile, I am a seasoned personal injury attorney, conveniently located in Alpharetta, close to North Point Mall at Georgia 400. 770-408-6364

I started this blog to answer questions and offer advice to anyone in the North Georgia area who has a personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice or worker's compensation case on which they would like some advice.

I have been in business for myself since 2001, but have worked in the legal and insurance professions for my entire career (1989 to Present).
